For a long time, scented erasers have been popular among the kids as an entity they always want to collect. So, when smelly rubbers hit the school scene in the 80s, they became a coveted collectible. Not only did your mum not mind buying them for you - well, rubbers were an essential pencil case item - but they had the novelty factor, too! Each rubber was shaped like something, from a Swiss roll cake to a bunch of grapes and a can of coke - plus they smelled like what they looked.
The smellier the better! Erasers that is! My favorite scented eraser had to be the one in the shape of a Swiss roll. I think scented erasers may have also been appreciated by the parents of the small kids because these essentials play a pivotal role in making their kids’ life more interesting.
Personally speaking, I used to be really envious of my friend who used to get loads more than me! You could get them in little plastic boxes, ones in the shapes of plasters, bandages, food - you name it they had it!! Why they aren’t still made? I’m sure the kids would still love them!! Big kids too!!!!
